Scarce 39 star American flag. Appears to be made of silk. Measures 16 1/2 inches long and about 11 7/8 inches tall. Good condition with some thin areas with some small wear holes as pictured. This flag would have been made in 1889 in anticipation of the inclusion of the Dakota territory as the 39th state, but was never officially used as two Dakotas were ultimately added instead of a single state.
