Product Overview
This is an antique photograph mounted on a card that shows a baseball team, presumably from Jamestown, New York in front of a horse drawn wagon with painted advertising text on the side for "Axel Swanson, General Carting." The photograph was taken by a photographer in Jamestown, New York. The players and team is unidentified. The short amount of research we did on this revealed that Axel Swanson was active in local baseball in the Jamestown area. According to the baseball almanac, there was one major league player from the Jamestown area who played briefly in the majors that would have been active about the time of this photo....so it's unlikely there are any big names pictured here, but it's an interesting photo. Almost all of the players are holding bottles of soda pop and beside the gloves and balls and bats strewn in front of the players there is an ax and a large knife or machete stuck in the ground, crossed as pictured.
