This is a vintage handmade travel souvenir. Figure is a hand-painted man...or maybe it's a woman, figure that is made of some type of metal with colored cord wrapped around it. The figure is on a wood base with a brass "Cuba" plaque in the corner. The figure is bendable and poseable.
This figure was found in the estate of a prominent African American educator who was compiling Black Americana and Black Memorabilia items for a museum prior to her death. Novelty souvenirs such as this one were not always made in the region that they were sold, where this one was made is unknown.
