This is a vintage hand-carved African figure of a woman with a vessel on her head and beaded jewelry. Unsigned, maker unknown. Carved from single piece of wood. Likely sold somewhere (no idea where) in Africa.
This figure was found in the estate of a prominent African American educator who was compiling Black Americana and Black Memorabilia items for a museum prior to her death. Novelty souvenirs such as this one were not always made in the region that they were sold, where this one was made is unknown.
