This is a vintage handmade travel souvenir. Figure is a couple of indigenous people with little spring bases, one is holding a guitar, mounted on a wood slab base. They are made of wood and are hand-painted. Stamped Japan on the underside.
This figure was found in the estate of a prominent African American educator who was compiling Black Americana and Black Memorabilia items for a museum prior to her death. Novelty souvenirs such as this one were not always made in the region that they were sold, where this one was made is unknown.
