This is a vintage handmade travel souvenir. Figure is a seated woman made of wood on a seashell on a wood base, the figure is playing some type of clarinet or similar musical horn. Figure has hand-painted features.
This figure was found in the estate of a prominent African American educator who was compiling Black Americana and Black Memorabilia items for a museum prior to her death. Novelty souvenirs such as this one were not always made in the region that they were sold, where this one was made is unknown.
