Product Overview
This is a vintage pair of ceramic salt and pepper shakers that are shaped like a black ceramic couple of island figures. Hand-painted, one is missing the cork, both are stamped Japan on the bottoms.
These shakers were found in the estate of a prominent African American educator who was compiling Black Americana and Black Memorabilia items for a museum prior to her death. Novelty souvenirs such as this one were not always made in the region that they were sold, where this one was made is unknown.
