Antique early 1900s heavy steel commercial home savings still bank by the W. F. Burns Co., Chicago. Custom fitted for "The Peoples Bank, Erie, PA." with embossed riveted brass badge numbered 337. Features a folding top carry handle, side bill and coin insertion slots with an internal anti-theft baffle chute mechanism, and a front key lock cylinder. Open-back design (originally accessed and held by the teller at the bank) with natural surface age patina and surface oxidation to the interior. No key.
Condition is as pictured. There is a break to the bottom plate on the front. I found this in an estate, locked and filled with money....so I broke into it. Doing so split the bottom. I pulled the front off to get the old money out. When taking the photos, I pounded the front back on where it stayed securely on the pins, but the bottom is separated and a bit bent as pictured.
Measures about 4 3/8 inches long.
