Product Overview
This vintage African Ndebele beaded doll (often referred to as an Umndwana or fertility/child doll) measures approximately 4.5 inches long. The traditional folk art figure features a firm, cylindrical fabric body wrapped in tight, horizontally tiered rows of black and white glass seed beads, simulating stacked tribal neck rings. The dark cloth head features minimal white seed bead facial features, an elaborate red beaded crown or topknot, and a small, attached green-beaded infant figure swaddled on the side. The base is neatly finished in a brown polka-dot textile trim, maintaining excellent structural condition with intact beadwork.
Very nice condition with no damage or mentionable surface wear. Judging by beads and fabric the doll is approximately 50 years old. Refer to the photos for a better idea of the style and condition, you will receive the exact fertility doll that is pictured.
