This is an original 1917 union membership card for The Order of Railroad Telegraphers, issued to H. Sheaffer.
The front features elaborate ornate typography, an engraved telegraph seal reading "The Order of Railroad Telegraphers Grand Division," and a red printed expiration date of December 31st, 1917. It bears the printed signatures of Union President H.B. Perham and Grand Secretary and Treasurer C.B. Rawlins.
The reverse side notes assignment to the Penn Sys (Pennsylvania Railroad System) Division 17, Certificate No. 1414, Card No. 23406, signed by member H. Sheaffer and countersigned by C.B. Rawlins. Printed on heavy rounded-corner cardstock measuring approximately 2 1/2 x 4 inches. Condition is excellent vintage with crisp typography, sharp corners, and minor age toning.
