Authentic antique 1850s cased tintype portrait photograph under glass capturing a seated Victorian woman, accompanied by an original handwritten period provenance slip identifying her as "Grandmother Scofield / Eliza Scofield." The portrait exhibits exceptional clarity, depth, and tonal contrast, portraying Eliza seated in an ornate carved rococo chair wearing a gathered dark silk dress, belted waist, a white lace collar with a hand-tinted gold brooch, and a ruffled lace day cap.
Housed in a handsome embossed hinged case displaying a central classical urn filled with blooming flowers framed by scrolling acanthus leaf borders. The interior features a deep crimson embossed velvet cushion opposite a bright, intricately stamped pinchbeck brass mat with ornate corner medallions and a foliate preserver. In very good antique condition, complete with an intact brass closure clasp, tight structural integrity, and clean, well-preserved plate detail sealed under glass. Case has a replaced spine as pictured.
