Original 19th-century Victorian tintype (ferrotype) photograph featuring a classic "Hidden Mother" portrait. Depicts an infant in a white lace christening gown seated on the lap of a mother completely shrouded beneath an ornate patterned paisley textile to hold the child still for the long studio exposure. The baby's cheeks and lips feature subtle period hand-tinted rouge blush. Uncased iron plate with rounded corners. Condition shows authentic Victorian age wear including fine surface crazing, emulsion flaking, light handling marks, and natural edge oxidation, while retaining clear facial details.
