Product Overview
Antique late 19th-century Victorian tintype (ferrotype) photograph featuring a charismatic studio portrait of two sharply dressed gentlemen. Posed before a painted woodland backdrop, one man stands in a tailored tweed three-piece suit with an exposed pocket watch chain and hat, resting his hand on his seated companion who dons a bowler / derby hat and poses thoughtfully. Unsigned, maker unknown. Condition shows authentic Victorian character with fine emulsion crazing, surface scuffs, and edge wear along the upper margin, while retaining crisp clarity, strong contrast, and sharp facial features. A wonderful piece of 19th-century men's fashion history and vernacular photography.
