Original antique 19th-century country primitive bentwood and tin-banded pantry spice box / canister. Features a round steam-bent wood body with black japanned tin reinforcing rim bands along the base and the fitted slip-on lid. Stenciled in black serif lettering "PEPPER" across the side wall and lid top. The interior is clean, bare, unfinished natural wood. In very good antique primitive condition with tight joints, a well-fitting lid, rich warm honey patina, minor surface water/varnish spotting, and honest oxidation/paint loss on the tin bands.
