Product Overview
This vintage Gibbs Mfg. Co. musical whistling top is an antique mechanical tin toy crafted in Canton, Ohio, during the early 20th century. Constructed from lithographed tinplate, the top features a vibrant primary color scheme of red, cream, blue, and yellow concentric target stripes, with a solid yellow underside perforated by six sound holes. The mechanical cast metal turning cap is clearly stamped "GIBBS TOY" and "PATENTED." When spun at high speeds, internal air dynamics force wind through the lower body ports to produce a classic, high-pitched whistling chord melody.
Top has some tiny dings and paint wear from play use as pictured. The mechanism is intact as is the spring inside it that you use to wind the top. Measures 4 inches wide. Refer to the photos for a better idea of the style and condition, you will receive the exact antique top that is pictured.
