A substantial, vintage mid-century modern square ashtray hand-carved from a single block of striking black and white banded zebra marble. The polished stone showcases a dramatic natural pattern with bold, wavy white and cream veins contrasted against a deep black matrix, creating an eye-catching, high-contrast look. The ashtray features a deep round central well and two large cigarette rests precisely cut into the top perimeter. Unsigned, maker unknown.
This heavy, decorative stone piece is in excellent vintage condition. The polished finish is well-preserved, highlighting the complex veining of the marble. There are no major cracks, large chips, or repairs. Light, standard surface wear is present within the center well and on the base, consistent with use and age, including small flea bites along the sharpest edges of the rests. The underside includes the four original green felt protective pads.
