Original 1909 antique divided back illustrated song postcard titled "The prodigal son made a home run, Brother Noah gave out checks for rain." Art by noted comic illustrator Luther C. Phifer (L. C. Phifer). Depicts minstrel-style Black caricatures redeeming baseball "rain checks" at a barrel labeled "Joy Juice 100 Horse Power." Published by Theodor Eismann (Leipzig & New York, Illustrated Song Series No. 1820) by permission of Jos. Morris Music Publisher, Philadelphia, and printed in Germany. Hand-inscribed in ink on reverse and dated October 20, 1909; unmailed. Features gold metallic printed borders. Good antique condition with corner tip wear, edge toning, and album mount paper remnants on the reverse. A scarce crossover artifact of early baseball, minstrel music, and Black Americana comic ephemera.
