Product Overview

Nice looking vintage postcard with Black Americana theme. Pictured and shipped in stiff top loader. Condition is as pictured.

This is an authentic vintage linen-era postcard, postmarked 1941, published by Curt Teich & Co. (Chicago). The illustrative content features highly offensive racist "Black Americana" caricatures of three children in a "two-timing" comic scenario. One boy is depicted crying, while a couple sits with exposed buttocks on a stool.

The text at the bottom uses explicit phonetic dialect: "Ah's bout as mad as ah can be. Yo' all cain't go an' two-time me." The card is a standard "GENUINE CURTEICH-CHICAGO 'C. T. ART-COLORTONE' POST CARD (REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.)" and part of the "C. T. CHOCOLATE DROPS COMICS-10 SUBJECTS" series (noted on reverse). It bears production serial number C-243. Condition shows honest wear consistent with age and postal service; a distinct 1-cent Defense stamp with a "HATTIESBURG MISS FEB 8 1941" postmark is present.
