Product Overview

This is an original antique Victorian chromolithograph greeting trade card (c. 1880s-1890s). It is unsigned; the maker is unknown. Back is blank, would likely have been used by a business for advertising.

The front features a color stone-lithograph depicting a Black woman in a headscarf leaning out of a brick apartment window surrounded by ivy vines. A white sheet pinned to the clothesline below is printed with a period dialect holiday verse: "Sally at de winder, Hangin' out de cloes,-Lubly Critter, Sally, Ebberybody knows-Drops a pretty curtsey Modest kiss she blows, 'Wish you Merry Christmas!' Den away she goes." Marked "Copyright" in lower left. The reverse side is blank stock.

Condition is very good antique with strong, vibrant colors, clean printed verse, minimal edge wear, and a blank reverse showing light minor corner paper scuffs/foxing.
