Nice looking vintage postcard with Black Americana theme. Pictured and shipped in stiff top loader. Condition is as pictured.
This is an authentic vintage linen-era comic postcard from approximately 1940, featuring a problematic and offensive "Chocolate Drop Comic" theme that utilizes racist caricatures. The illustration shows a exaggerated figure standing inside a white toilet, pulling the chain on what appears to be a busted pipe, with exposed buttocks and stylized features typical of "Black Americana" memorabilia from this time period.
This is an authentic vintage unposted (unused) linen-era postcard (c. 1942), published by Curt Teich & Co. (Chicago). The illustration features a comic "Black Americana" caricature of a woman in a red polka-dot headwrap reprimanding a child praying at bedside, with the dialogue text: "IT'S 'AMEN' - NOT 'YEAH MAN!'".
The card is a standard "GENUINE CURTEICH-CHICAGO 'C. T. ART-COLORTONE' POST CARD (REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.)" and bears serial number C-819 at top right of the front illustration and production code 2B-H717 inside the stamp box, dating its production to 1942. The reverse side features a clean, unposted divided back printed in blue ink with a blank stamp box. Condition is excellent, uncirculated NOS, presented in a clear protective sleeve.
