This is an authentic vintage linen-era comic postcard featuring an illustrative "pickaninny" caricature theme, manufactured in the United States by Curt Teich & Co., Inc. and explicitly dated to 1946 by its production code. The illustration uses problematic and offensive visual language to make a "comic" point, utilizing the standard "pickaninny" stereotype. The illustration depicts an exaggerated child figure sitting shivering in a state of distress, crouched atop a melting block of ice. The scene utilizes a crudely phonetic dialect caption split across the top: "MY TALE / IS TOLD". This card is a defined example of Serial #C-732.
This is an unposted (unused) example of New Old Stock (NOS). The reverse side is a standard divided back with blue print, identified explicitly along the vertical divider as the series: "C. T. PICKANINNY COMICS-10 SUBJECTS", making this an even more desirable collected series item. It is a standard "GENUINE CURTEICH-CHICAGO 'C. T. ART-COLORTONE' POST CARD (REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.)" and bears standard "PLACE STAMP HERE" and "POST CARD" text. The reverse also bears the production number 6B-H1152.
