Product Overview

Nice looking vintage postcard with Black Americana theme. Pictured and shipped in stiff top loader. Condition is as pictured.

This is an authentic unposted (unused) linen-era postcard (c. 1940s), published by E.C. Kropp Co. (Milwaukee), featuring a racist "Black Americana" dialect poem. Part of the "Down in Sunny Dixie Series" (No. 7), the illustration depicts "Br'er Johnsing Preaches" with radiating background "hosanna" rays.

The text is a multi-stanza poem utilizing extreme phonetic dialect and racial slurs to caricature African American religious practice. The card includes the production number 25084 and publisher text. Condition is excellent, complete and uncirculated, presented in a clear protective sleeve.
